When the Metropolitan Opera took a gander at this fabulous footwear, they began ordering all of their custom shoes from his shop. Soon, everyone was taking notice of his craftsmanship and word spread like wildfire – all the way to premier Russian Ballerina Anna Pavlova. She slipped a set of these sumptuous slippers on her toes for a United States tour and soon, everybody wanted a pair of Capezios on their feet.
The Capezio company was enlisted to create a line of footwear to accompany the casual sportswear stylings of designer Claire McCardell in the 1950s. Needing something casual enough to replace the overly dressy stilettos of the day, Capezio designed a colorful compliment of ballet-inspired flats and soon, everyone wanted a pair of Capezios.
In the 1980s, Capezios once again made a fashion statement with a soft leather dance shoe to accompany their ballerina flats and soon everyone wanted to bust a move in a pair of stylish, yet always comfortable Capezios. Today, Capezio manufactures their dance shoes out of New York and the fashionable footware out of Cincinnati, Ohio. They’ve come along way over the years and serve as a reminder that a quality product simply never goes out of style.
