Twinkies

My mother was a bit of a hippy when I was in grade school, so we usually had homemade peanut butter on her homemade wheat bread with homemade soup in our thermos and a piece of fruit so it was rare that a Twinkie was ever found in my lunch box. But every once in awhile right before I left for school my mom would say "I left a surprise in your lunch box", I knew it was going to be a twinkie or one of those pink snowballs. Always a nice treat. I would eat the bottom and than take my finger and dig out all the white glob in the middle.

As much as I loved my twinkies, I miss my mom's homemade bread and soup more.
