Release History:

1986 - Flight of the Navigator
It wasn’t exactly Rip Van Winkle, but it was probably just as freaky. Twelve-year-old David Freeman is knocked unconscious after falling into a ravine in 1978, and wakes up eight years later, only to find out he hasn’t aged a day. So begins Disney’s sci-fi feature Flight of the Navigator.

After David wakes up and goes home, his family are no longer living there. He’s still twelve, but the rest of the world is eight years older. When David finally does find his family, it’s a strange reunion, and no one is quite sure how to deal with the situation, including his younger brother – who’s now his older brother.

Simultaneous with the boy’s reappearance is the discovery of a silver spaceship. NASA takes both the ship and David in for testing, and they discover a set of star charts embedded in the boy’s mind. David and the ship, whose name is MAX, are linked somehow, and they need to work together to both return to the homes they knew. MAX becomes a friend to David, and the film provides both dramatic plot twists and comedic relief. MAX is voiced by the talented, yet unbilled, Paul Reubens.
