After Don Bluth’s hit film The Land Before Time made a successful run in theaters, children’s entertainment became all about dinosaurs. Production company Ruby-Spears answered the dino-call with Dink, the Little Dinosaur, all about a young brontosaurus named Dink and his friends Amber, Scat, Shyler and Flapper.
As residents of Dinosaur Valley, the kids are mentored by an old sea turtle named Crusty, while they have to escape the clutches of Tyranno the tyrannosaurus. As Dino and his friends went on adventures, the show taught kids about ecology, teamwork, and tolerance.
The second season introduced a segment called "Factasaurus," which gave kids lessons and information about different species of dinosaurs. But after one more season, Dino and his friends went off the air to their inevitable extinction.
