Release History:

Yogi Bear, the smart bear from Jellystone Park, became a breakout star in the early 60s and even got a feature on the ABC Saturday Superstar Movie, Yogi's Lark Ark. That TV movie parleyed into a new cartoon series for Yogi called Yogi's Gang.

The premise was like a never-ending roadtrip, where Yogi Bear and many of his friends travel around the world in a flying ark, trying to find an idyllic place to settle down. Since the series was created in the 70s, the animals were looking for a land that was free of pollution and crime (picnic basket larceny would be tolerated).

The ark was one crowded vehicle with two decades worth of Hanna-Barbera anthropomorphic animals living and loving on board. You can only imagine the state of the bathroom facilities. Yogi's fellow passengers included Quick Draw McGraw and sidekick Baba Looey, Wally Gator, Magilla Gorilla, Peter Potamus, Secret Squirrel, the Hillbilly Bears, and Yogi's co-stars from The Yogi Bear Show, Snagglepuss and Yakky Doodle.

Flying around in the ark, Yogi and his gang met many characters who at first appeared to be good people but turned out villains of the worst kind. Unsurprisingly, the villains had villain-like names like Smokestack Smog, Lotta Litter, Mr. Hothead, Dr. Bigot, the Sheik of Selfishness, I.M. Sloppy and the Greedy Genie. The bad guys usually embodied a character flaw to be avoided and Yogi's ark would move on to find a better place to colonize.

The 15 episodes of the series ran for two years on ABC, packaged along with the TV movie that spawned the show. Yogi's Gang then moved to syndication under the title Yogi Bear and Friends.
