After a career in comic books, TV and film, Richie Rich and his fabulous wealth got a second chance at cartoon glory in this 1996 syndicated series. Producers went back to the source for this adaptation and even though the first animated series show Richie as a teenager, he was aged down to the kid he was in the original comics.

The series followed the adventures of the "Richest Kid in the World" and his friends, Freckles, Tiny and Gloria Glad. Bouncing along behind the gang was Dollar, Richie's faithful dog. Irona, the robot maid, also made an appearance as did the Riches' butler, Cadbury, chef Pierre and chauffeur Bascomb. Did we mention this kid was really, really rich?

Richie, in his trademark tuxedo jacket and shorts, used his money and influence to solve mysteries and subdue criminals. Aiding him in his crimefighting crusade was Professor Keenbean, who invented machines and gadgets galore that would subdue any criminal mastermind.

The series also featured Harveytoons shorts from the 40s and 50s, peppered throughout Richie's adventures. The shorts included classic comic book characters like Casper the Friendly Ghost, Little Audrey and Baby Huey.

Money can't buy happiness however and Richie Rich lasted only for a single season before retiring, presumably on a big pile of cash.
