The meeting place for every school’s misfits and troublemakers is detention hall and this animated series followed the adventures of the students doing hard time after classes. They weren’t bad kids, really, just misunderstood.

At Benedict Arnold Middle School, the kids had the misfortune of studying under the meanest teacher to walk the halls: Miss Eugenia Kisskillya. Her name was just a preview of her prickly personality and Miss Killkillya would gleefully assign detention for the smallest rule breaking. The students that suffered her wrath most frequently were the independent thinker Shareena Wicket; Emmitt Rosewell, a little boy seeing conspiracies everywhere; masterful yo-yo handler Duncan Bubble; Gug, a Napoleon syndrome poster boy; dedicated girl scout Shelly; and brainy twins Lemonjella and Orangejella.

The band of detention-prone students often landed punishments from Miss Killkillya, some times unfairly but some times because they got into unusual trouble. In some memorable episodes, the kids made an exploding volcano cake, tried to expose the science teacher as an alien and defended their school’s library from super villains bent on its destruction.

The show used offbeat humor to teach its young viewers about friendship, fair play and loyalty. It didn’t last long however, as only 13 episodes were made for WB’s Saturday morning lineup.
