Release History:

1988 - ? syndicated
Kids’ entertainment was all about dinosaurs in the late 80s, and Dino-Riders, created by comic book powerhouse Marvel, was right there. The segment was one-third of the Marvel Action Universe, a 90-minute syndicated block of programming.

The show takes place on Valoria, a peaceful planet whose residents can communicate telepathically. The Valorians are attacked by the Rulons, a reptile race who wants to take over Valoria’s rich natural resources. A small group of Valorians - Questar, Mind-Zei, Serena and Youngstar - escape into the past using a "S.T.E.P." machine, but the Rulons go right after them in their spaceship, the Dreadlock.

Now back in prehistoric Earth, the Valorians use their telepathic “amp” crystals to communicate with the dinosaurs, making them into allies. But Krulos, the leader of the Rulons, has his own mind-controlling device, and along with his cronies, Antor, Hammerhead, and Rasp, they start a battle between their own T-rexes, triceratops, pteranodons and ankylosauruses against the Valorian’s brontosauruses, stegosauruses, and pterodactyls.

The show only saw twelve episodes, but the licensed toy line from Tyco was far more successful. They produced three different sets of figures, including the Commandos, who later appeared on the TV show. Even after the show was relegated to home video, new toys were introduced, up to the “Ice Age” line in the 1990s.
