Release History:

1983 Nickelodeon
"Somewhere in the crowd... sometimes you find someone very special. Someone who sees light in the dark. Someone who hears the unheard. Someone who understands the mystery. Sometimes, there's someone who sees with a third eye!"

One of the first shows to debut on Nickelodeon in the early 80s, The Third Eye was actually a compilation of four previously produced programs that offered a generous helping of time travel, aliens, psychic powers and magic spells to enthralled youngsters.

Children of the Stones took place in the small English hamlet of Milbury, where a scientist named Adam Brake and his son Matthew have arrived to find that the townsfolk seem to be controlled by a powerful spell. The source of this control appears to emanate from a strange circle of stones and it is up to Matthew and his dad to try to break the town free from this strange spell.

The Haunting of Cassie Palmer
involved a young girl, the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, who had, as a result, inherited some supernatural power. Exercising these newfound powers, Cassie summons up a spirit named Deverill which led to some strange and unexpected results. Luckily, it wasn’t long before the family was able to determine the reason for this pesky spirit’s appearance and bring some order back to their home.

Into The Labyrinth
revolved around three young children, Helen, Terry and Phil, who unwittingly release an imprisoned sorcerer one day while out exploring. He asks their help in retrieving a powerful object called the Nidus, that had been stolen from him by an evil witch named Belor. Their quest led the group on a time-traveling adventure into the past where, along the way, they encountered such historical and/or fictional characters as Long John Silver, Davy Crockett, Kublai Khan and Robin Hood.

Finally, Under the Mountain told the story of a pair fraternal twins, Theo and Rachel Madson, who lived with their aunt and uncle in New Zealand. One day, a strange man named Mr. Jones contacts them and informs them that he is an alien from another world who desperately needs their help. It would seem that a far more sinister group of aliens, led by the evil Mr. Wilberforce, are bent on destroying the Earth and the only thing that can save the day is the twins, who have begun developing their own psychic powers.

Unlike most children’s series, each of these particular stories actually had a beginning and an end. And as a result, once the individual stories concluded, so did the show. But for a short time at least, The Third Eye offered a compelling collection of fantasy sure to delight any kid with an interest in the supernatural.
