BIO:
When I was a kid...
I loved Candie's clogs, even though I wasn't a big
shot like my sister and her friends who could pull
that style off. I was too 'young' for clogs. I adored
Kissing Potion in all the flavors! Love's Baby Soft
and Heaven Sent were my first perfumes. My friends and I giggled at the shapes of the bottles of Tickle deodorant and Love's Baby soft;-) I would watch
shows like Sonny and Cher, Shields and Yarnell, Donnie
and Marie, the Brady Bunch, naturally! I loved the
After School specials and Judy Blume; they were all
so...traumatic:-) Roller skates were super though I
couldn't really master them; I stuck with the Bay City
Rollers; they were easier to handle:-) I loved the
Holiday specials they still show today; it would be
nice if they still showed the original commercials. I
remember the old Rankin Bass logo after each special, and the commercial where the little girl put her board games by Milton Bradley on the top shelf of her closet.
I loved Battleship, Connect Four, Etch-a-Sketch and
Mastermind. I loved the smell of Agree shampoo and Gee
Your Hair Smells Terriffic; remember how suggestive
that commercial was? The boss would lean over his
secretary ever so closely and comment on her hair.
Those innocent and fun times:-) I tried to be short
and sassy, and even tried the Farrah Fawcett shampoo
thinking I'd have luscious locks like hers. I remember
those yummy TV dinners, epecially the ones with the
fudge brownie in it. Of course, somehow a bit of corn
or greenbeans would mysteriously fall into the
dessert:-) I also realized at the age of 8 that I was
not bionic; when I fell and skinned my knee, there
were no wires to put back in:-):-) Remember the
milkman? We'd have fresh milk in glass bottles
delivered right to our door along with other dairies
such as fresh eggs, butter and cheese. How I miss
that. Moms were always home, Dads were home by 6 in
time to sit with us all at the table for supper. I
also rembember looking at the Sears wishbook every
year at holiday time; Mitch Miller would be playing in
the background. My brother and sisters and I would
look at all the pages in the back where all the toys
were and circle all that we wanted for Christmas. This
gaiety usually started on Thanksgiving...The Christmas
commercials would start: "It's beginning to look alot
like Gimbels!"; "Let Lionel Kiddie City turn that
frown upside down!" "I wanna be a Toys R Us Kid!" We had a bubble light tree by Noma and recall it being the neatest thing to see next to a Lava lamp.
Those were the days my friend, we'd thought they'd
never end....But they will remain forever in our hearts.
